Interesting post Mike. Never owned a Watkins Rapier but I do remember them back in the day. The first band I ever played in had a 'WEM' PA system with all of 100 thundering watts output, but was regarded by most to be 'good gear' back then. WEM' was an acronym for Watkins Electric Music. IIRC we even bought the WEM continuous tape loop reverb unit which was cutting edge stuff in the 70's.

Still got a couple of my old electric 'axes' here, but the acoustic guitar is more convenient to leave lying around for the odd time I get the urge to rediscover old 'choons'.
