Cheers Dave, hope it isn't too long before you can inspect it close up!
It isn't 100% but then I didn't expect it to be and overall I am very happy with the results. I think provided you do the right amount of prep you will get good results. Make sure you get decent quality aerosols, it makes all the difference. You know where I am if you need any tips!

A little more progress to report, much easier to find motivation to continue now I'm putting it all back together!

Keen eyed readers will notice I have taken the pedal box off again in order to fit the pedals.

I sure did. Couldn't be bothered fussing with compressors etc and working in the garage aerosols were more practical.
Finish is certainly good enough for an engine bay but would need a bit more refining for external areas.
My local paintshop use monofil colour match and some "professional" quality lacquer. They are both easy to use and you would have to be pretty careless to make a mess.

Good to see continuing progress. I know some of these aerosols can be pretty good these days (QED) not like those old Duplicolour cans!

I have been busy with the wet & dry paper to get the finish I wanted, still not 100% happy but it now looks pretty good (better camera hopefully shows it);

Fixed the pedal box in place today, found some old body caulk which did the job nicely;

Hope to get a bit more done over the weekend.

Took advantage of a clear weekend to get one of the major jobs done.

Engine removed from stand prior to refitting of clutch;

Engine was then moved back to my house to be re-introduced to Mr Gearbox! We made the decision to put the engine & gearbox back in as a complete unit.

With the exception of a bit of swearing and a sore thumb it was fairly straight forward;

Maybe, just maybe we could be well on the way to a return to the road!

Wow, must've been a lovely weekend. I hope for you.
It's now the more little stuff that need doing, but it's far more rewarding, as it will go fast now!
Keep up the good work!

A few more items fitted. Servo back in place (after troublesome re-spray), new brake pipes looking good. Starter motor in place and fan trial fit to see how it looks (pretty good!).

Hi Jason
Thats looking really good now.

I'm sure BJU will be at the Bristol Classic car show.

Whats the chances it'll be taxed & on the road for 1st April?

You could then be at the Weston Super Mare show on 7th & 8th April & Classics at the Mill near Crewkerne on the 15th April.

Coupes are cool

Nearly there;

I should point out that the rocker box in these pictures is only there to stop any muck getting into the rocker gear. The real one is waiting to be polished!
