Lucas 23D4 distributor on a Holbay
I suspect my distributor's advance mechanism is faulty. The timing is all over the place.
When I manually turn the rotor it doesn't spring back.
Does anyone know where I might get a replacement set of springs?
Thanks

If it's just the return spring failed then you should be able to source one of an old Lucas dizzy I don't think that particular spring will be unique to the Holbay set up. It may of even just come un-hooked. |

Thanks, I found the doctor via Google. He offered a full rebuild, which seemed a little over the top if I just need new springs.
But then again, the dizzy is 54 years old, maybe a complete rebuild is warranted.
I wondered what was usual practice.

It's more likely to be the spring that attached the top plate to the dizzy body that has failed. |
