I am in the throes of a Series 4 overdrive conversion.
Could anyone please provide me with the original specified propshaft length for the overdrive car. I have measured two examples and they vary by 25mm!
Thanks.

Hi,
As far as I remember the od propshaft for a serie 3a I installed on my car was 3inches shorter than the non od one.
I hope this helps you and I will try to find the length of both propshaft. I have this info somewhere but cannot locate it at the moment.

The difference could be explained by knowing that the propshaft of Arrow-type with overdrive has a different lenght caused by the nose of the diff which is longer and the place of the gearbox/overdrive including the longer bellhouse of the Arrow gearbox.
I know that the nose of the diff of the Arrow type cars is about 1 inch longer and if such a diff is installed on an Audax type car (like the Rapier series IV) than the propshaft has to be shortened by about an inch.

Regards,

Peter

Thank you both for the information.
The diff. Is certainly an original Audax one but I will take some more measurements under the car and report back!

The answer is 3 inches/75mm shorter for the overdrive propshaft.
I have just had the work done be Bailey Morris at St.Neots, nice job and not too expensive.
