Great looking car Andy, what Ford springs did you use?

I used mk 2 escort rally springs
There are many spring rates & free lengths to choose from
I opted after much thought for 175lb can't remember what free length without checking
And I think I chose correctly

I will be lowering the rear by the usual method of blocks and longer u bolts by about 1.5 inches feels good out on the road but its on snow tyres at the moment
Will get a better idea when it's on road tyres

Struts where reconditioned by gaz
Rear leaf springs are std
Rear shocks are escort turreted bilsteins

Will know better next Sunday when it gets used in anger !

Just checked my notes and the springs are 175lb 11" free length and suit the later cup type struts
11" is about the shortest one can go without the spring being loose when built up
The car sits pretty level with std rear springs as mentioned I aim to drop the rear by
an 1 1/2 or so.

well.....so pleased I sent it for a dyno tune

the tuner has found a split in the inlet manifold (now repaired)
the carb gaskets where perished so have been replaced by misab plates
a proper weber throttle linkage fitted along with some k&n style air filters and a lumenition electronic ignition kit fitted

the carbs where well out & are having some new internals
as it wont pull higher up the rev range
seemed to go ok when I took it in so looking forward to the results
just waiting for the phone to ring ..........

Had a busy Saturday after collecting the car from the tuners on Friday night but was worth it
Ran as course opening car on the st wilfrids classic rally in North Yorkshire today
The car went a lot better than expected and set equal fastest time on test one
Will get a picture or two up during the week

That was a busy weekend!! Good to hear that the car survived the 'soak' test bug free. You deserved a result. Well done!!

Building the 'Mark II' fastback Rapier ('Arrocuda').

Utterly superb Andy - not only back on the road but being pressed into action. Congrats, and enjoy it.

Thanks guys, the car caused a lot of interest, and raised a few eyebrows when we equalled the fastest time on the first test !

I have had a lot of help along the way from forum members whom I have never met so a big thank you to them

I have just over a month to get it ready for the big one
the rally of the tests which will be on motors tv in December.

Andy, the car looks awesome tearing up the track but I still can't help feeling a bit like it's too nice to do that to

Anyway, congrats on the results, hoping to see the car in the flesh one day.

Don't know how far away from shepton mallet you are but your car would be a great addition to the club stand at the show next June....
