If I changed the inlet manifold on my series V Rapier, would it be advisable to block off the water "cooling" system or divert it around the manifold? Removing this manifold warming system is one way to improve performance, and I wondered whether it was esssential for the engine cooling system.

Hi Jim;
Not 100% on a Series, but always chop them off on the standard Fastback set up. Complete waste of time: I've found and car runs better without them. Of course on the Fastback the replacement heater hose is easy to sort as it is the H120/Alpine set up.I'd wait for other confirmation, but my vote is block it off altogether .
Cheers. G.

I agree, this warming system is causing more problems than it solves!

Thank you gents. Two opinions I value. Tomorrow all traces of the heating to manifold is going! Plugging the head port, and blanking the pipe from the water pump.. Just getting the car ready after an engine strip down and rebuild, all set for the summer.....hoping we get one!
