On my Rapier series V there's a pipe from the block water drain to the tap, making access for draining the coolant from the block easier. Like every Rootes engine of the period that I've come across,it's hopelessly blocked. Years ago, I know I could have cleaned it out at any radiator repair shop by having it dropped into boiling caustic with an ultra-sonic agitator, which they all used to unblock radiator cores etc.
Imagine my indignation to just discover that they have all been scrapped
owing to health and safety laws! Has anyone overcome this problem and found a way to clean the pipe out? My wife stopped me from scrounging her baking dish to fill with caustic solution and place over a gas burner to try that. Anyway may you all have a pleasant and trouble free Christmas.
