Our Chairman has tracked down and contacted Pilkington's Classic Windscreens General Manager who has confirmed there was no truth in the rumour that no more windscreens were going to be produced and the tooling destroyed They have all the necessary tooling to produce laminated screens to order for all of our cars - the table below shows what is available and the prices, which are + VAT. It is good to know that we can still get screens if required. Thanks again to Derek for doing the research.

That is useful information Glen and nice to have the choice of screens.
Do I remember reading on here a little while ago that the windscreen seal for the hunter is not the same as the fastback?

Interesting, good to know.
I bought a laminated screen from Grimes for a '71 Sceptre a few years back, and it was just too thick for the seal. I had to track down a second hand toughened one instead in that instance. |

Yes, that's correct J: it is smaller, as of course is the screen. We thought there were lots of spare toughened screens at the stores, but most turned out to be Hunter. Crazy really that they made them that bit different. Was OK at the time I suppose, but it would have helped to have more shared parts now! G

Yes, that's a good point. A club member has just broken his laminated screen that was fitted as o/e on a late car. It will be interesting to see if the replacement is the same thickness and if the seal is re-useable.
