Hi Terry and Sue,
The Rapier Guide is a SROC publication which you can buy from SROC.

Brilliant, thanks everybody :-)
Now, does anybody know a BS or RAL number for Dawn Mist? :-)
Peter - what is the Rapier Guide you refer to? Is it a SROC publication?
Regards, Terry |

Hi,
in the Rapier Guide the following is written about wheel colours:
"The wheels of series 1 to 3A Sunbeam Rapiers were painted in the secondary body colour. For example, on an April Yellow (lower body)and Embassy Black (roof and side panels) Series 1, the wheels were Embassy Black, and on a Velvet Green (lower body) and Sage Green (roof and side flashes) Series 3, they were Sage Green. Exceptions to this rule were Series 2, 3 and 3A cars in Pearl Grey and Pippin Red which had Pearl Grey wheels and some of the late Series 3A cars in metallic colours wich also had Pearl Grey wheels"
So in this particular case the wheel colour should be Dawn Mist!
Regards,
Peter |

That's interesting. I'd assumed that cream wheels were correct.
Yes, the secondary colour is indeed Dawn Mist.
I can see that I need to do some research :-)
Thanks, Terry |

I'm not a Series expert, but I thought the wheel colour on Series III/IIIA's always matched the secondary colour of the car? I think mostly the secondary colour to Midnight Blue was Dawn Mist. I owned a IIIA in Dawn Mist & Embassy Black, so have the colour code of 004 from Rootes and the ICI no. of 2948. Hope that helps: if your secondary colour isn't Dawn Mist - apols! G. |

Hello Everyone
Does anybody know the name or the RAL or BS code for the correct colour or a close match to the (cream?) colour used on Series IIIA wheels? Our car is midnight blue, I want to get the wheel colour about right when I refurbish them.
Many thanks, Terry & Sue |
