Pictures and editorial from the Doonhamer Classic Rally 21st September
http://www.britishroadrallying.com/doonhamer-2014-review/
Missed a cone on one of the later tests which denied us a class win but still managed to finish 10th o/a I bent the alloy handbrake lever and the engine used 2 litres of oil and was smoking quite badly
The next and last event for this year is this weekends Solway classic just hoping the engine holds out as its starting to misfire on idle due in part to total lack of compression on number 3 cylinder !

So, Andy, the fog behind your car in the pics is smoke and not speed?
Best greetings from the Isle of Arran in Scotland.

Thanks for posting up the pics Andy. Sorry to hear of troubles; esp the engine! You still did well. Hope it lasts for last one and that the repair is not too expensive. Cheers. G. |

Solway classic rally 19th oct
The last event of the year :(
We only had one problem (apart from a very tired smokey engine) which was a brake pipe coming out of the handbrake master cylinder on the finish line of the first test,so we flattened the end over & carried on with front brakes only & using the cable handbrake on the loose surface tests we finished 6th overall and 2nd in class
This time we got some in car footage which I will upload during the week until then here are some more photos lol

So good to see what Rootes should have done when the model was out; (but Chrysler weren't interested) campaign it like they did the Series cars. Some great photos there Andy & well done for flying the Fastback flag so well. G. |

Hi Andy Great video, thanks a lot. It needed just 35:25 Mins to download... Do you use the Overdrive in such races? I could not make it out.
Especially slaloms on a flat ground, inclusive on ice in Winter were my speciality. Not so much with my Fastback, but many more years with an racing green MGB. Ice slaloms with open roof was really the ultimate kick. And after each run of about 60 to 90 secs off into the Tearoom for a tea rum.
Best greetings from the Isle of Arran in Scotland.

Not done a great deal to the car since the last rally the engine got sent away earlier in the year to join a three month waiting list. Just had some photos sent of its progress its nearly ready to be dyno run Decided to have new carbs at the same time to save having to have it tuned when back in the car
more than impressed with the results so far

That engine is getting a lot of exposure. Lad that works for me is a Ford fanatic and couldn't wait to show me the picture, I think it pooped up on a Ford Forum. The Harris's are legends in the Ford field by all accounts. Very nice indeed. |

Here's a few photos and a video from the rally of the tests 2015 earlier this month, after a long wait to get the engine back delaying fitting it was a bit of a rush to get the car sorted for the rally as its a three and a half day event the preps a bit different to a day event everything you need has to be carried in the car
