Thanks for comments guys at least I know some are reading my resto progress. Been flat out doin 12hour shifts at work for the past 6days so the fastback aint had a look in. Got to do the same all next week to,then its the nec classic car show which im organising the stand for commer van fan. So no work on fastback for a few weeks now Brought a new sheet of steel though so I can fab some repair panels up
Well i finished work at 5.00 today and couldnt resist than to do a bit more welding In the end I cut the whole seam off top and bottom on the bulkhead so its now all good metal
Still pleanty more to do and finish this part off but its coming together slowly
Stripped all the components from the engine bay to day and did a bit more bare metaling
Need to make some wing top flanges like the steel ones as ive only got fibreglass wings to play with, and brand new steel one as a pattern which is my mates and wont sell it me
amazing progress Jon - what do you use to get back to bare metal?
I use a wire cup brush attachment for my angle grinder. I will take a pick of it when I get 5 if you want. Works a treat doesn't mark the metal either so only minimal filling on repairs when it's done using a flap wheel on the welds.
