Bought a pair of f/b door locks from Speedy's for the project car but they don't look right to me. I expected that they would have a single crank with a hole in it to take the connecting rod. They look like this....

Anybody recognise them?

Yes, OK, thanks Tim, no hurry; they'll just be sitting on the shelf until needed . G.

I don't chuck much away either these days but in my case it's because I'm too tight!

Still got these rear quarterlight rubbers here for you Glen. I'll try to make the effort to get down the post office with them next week.

Only just spotted this post. Yes, I saw some like that on 'the bay' recently, but turned them down as I wasn't sure if you could change the ends - those are for Hillman Hunters etc - but it seems you can. The ones on 'the bay' were £20 the pair, which I imagine is similar to Speedies price as they are usually sensible.

Turned out they were the right barrels with the wrong mech's. There's a pin that doubles as a travel stop which when withdrawn allows you to remove the cranks and replace them with the correct parts. Got lucky cos I managed to find a pair on busted barrels in my 'might come in handy some day' cache.

Speedie's should really be selling them as replacement barrels rather than selling them as complete locks.

I will inform them accordingly.

They don't look right to me, at least not like the ones on my car.

Just been on to speedies again after sending the same pic to them but they are saying that they are the same locks that they have been sending out for some time to Rapier/Hunter customers.

Am I missing something so blatantly obvious that I can't see the wood for the trees here?
