Posted - 22 Dec 2018 : 06:22:44 Hi guys, trying to update my Rapier to Alpine discs. I have a complete alpine crossmember. Just using the spindles limits the turn radius. Not sure why. All parts seem the same. Anyone do this? How? Thanks for any help. Jim, USA |

Posted - 23 Mar 2019 : 04:10:05 So, I have now finished this conversion and it is working well. I used Alpine series 4 spindle with series 5 hubs, rotors, steering arms and calipers. Also used the thicker anti roll bar. Some notes on the conversion: Extends the front track by approx. 1" per side. Had to use alpine tie rod ends inner and rapier tie rod ends outer. The rod pins are different sizes but the rod threads are the same. Used 1974 capri calipers (much cheaper) which are identical to alpine except require a metric to british thread adapter. Also added 1725 engine, all synchro tranny and 3:89 rear end. Very happy with conversion. |
